There is a theology of hospitality that most of us have replaced with delivery apps and eating in front of screens. Not a guilt trip — a statement of fact. The table was designed as the place where we show up for each other. Food presented beautifully, on a well-made surface, signals to everyone at the table: you are worth preparing for. A wooden board is not just a serving surface. It is an invitation. When I slice bread on my walnut board and bring it to the table, I'm making a small act of care visible. That act has compound interest.
